Good Morning Mets Fans. Our New York Metropolitans have a day off today after completing a seven game road trip that saw them play to a 4-3 record. It was a disappointing weekend though for the “Kings of Queens,” as they suffered back-to-back-to-back losses, all in heartbreaking fashion.

The Mets open up a nine-game homestead on Tuesday as they welcome in the Philadelphia Phillies. They will also play their first games of the season against the division rival Washington Nationals and will close out the homestead against the Atlanta Braves.

LATEST METS NEWS

In Sunday’s 4-2 loss to the Miami Marlins, Matt Harvey put forth another strong start. He pitched six innings on the day while allowing two runs, only one of which were earned. Harvey struck out five batters in Sunday’s contest and walked two as he took the no-decision in what was another tough loss against Miami. The Mets are now 2-5 against the Marlins so far in the 2017 season. Read more from Kristie Ackert in the NYDN.

The Mets’ bullpen struggled a bit over the weekend and some of that could be due to the amount of use they have already had to endure just 13 games into the season. The two biggest cogs in the team’s bullpen in Jeurys Familia‘s absence, Addison Reed and Fernando Salas both faltered in big spots over the weekend in Miami. Though it is early, it is hard not to wonder if the heavy loads at this young juncture of the season will hold a big effect on the bullpen as it gets deeper into the season. Terry Collins spoke with the media over the weekend and advised that closer, Jeurys Familia may not start in the same role upon his return to the team. Collins would like to get Familia acclimated back to game action before throwing him right back to high pressure situations. Familia is eligible to return Thursday against the Philadelphia Phillies and is currently getting some work with the organization’s Minor League affiliates.
