Good morning, Mets fans!

Wednesday night, the Mets defeated the Washington Nationals 9-2 to earn their 101st win of the season, the second most wins in franchise history behind the 1986 Mets with 108 wins. Mark Canha and James McCann hit a two-run home run and a three-run home run respectively and Trevor Williams only allowed two earned runs in six innings of relief.

Additionally, the crowd got a chance in the eighth inning to give Francisco Lindor a standing ovation for his impressive second season as a Met and also to congratulate Jeff McNeil on winning the batting title.

Dan Quiñones has a more complete recap of Wednesday’s game. The Mets will start their Wild Card series against the Padres at Citi Field at 8:07 PM EST on Friday. The pitching matchup is expected to be Yu Darvish (16-8, 3.10 ERA) against Max Scherzer (11-5, 2.29 ERA) and the game will be televised on ESPN.

Now, it is time for the morning briefing.
