1971: In a trade that is considered one of the biggest blunders of all time, the Mets would trade Nolan Ryan, Leroy Stanton, Frank Estrada, and Don Rose to the California Angels for Jim Fregosi. Ryan would go on to throw seven no-hitters and cement himself as one of the greatest pitchers of all time while Fregosi did not live up to his past All-Star status.

2008: The Mets, Mariners and Indians completed a three team trade that included the Mets sending Aaron Heilman, Endy Chavez, Jason Vargas and Mike Carp to the Mariners, Joe Smith to Cleveland and in return, Seattle traded Jeremy Reed, J.J. Putz, and Sean Green.
