The Washington Nationals have signed IF Adrian Sanchez and P Victor Arano to minor league deals. Sanchez re-signs with the Nationals after 16 games with the Major League Club. Arano last played in the majors during the 2019 season and has bounced around the Phillies and Braves organizations, battling arm injuries.

On This Date in Mets History
1963: Ron Hunt was the first Mets player to be considered for the NL Rookie of The Year award, at the time, was named the J. Louis Comiskey Memorial Award. Hunt came a distant second to Pete Rose, who garnered eighteen votes to win the award. Although Hunt would not have the same career as Rose, he would hold the record for home runs for a Mets second baseman with 10 until 1987 (Tim Teufel hit 14) and was the first ever Met player to start an All Star game.
2000: John Franco and the Mets agreed to a 3 year deal. During the Pennant winning campaign, Franco pitched in 62 games that season and would remain with the club until 2004. Franco would pitch in 15 of his 22 seasons with the Mets, including 276 saves, 695 total games along with being named team captain in 2001.
