The Mets will continue their six-game road trip on Tuesday night as they will travel to Chicago to take on the Cubs. Righty Taijuan Walker (0-0, 2.61 ERA) will start on the mound for New York as he is set to face Chicago’s right-handed slinger Jake Arrieta (2-1, 3.18 ERA).

First pitch for the series opener is set for 7:40 p.m. and will be broadcasted on SNY and WCBS 880.

Reds outfielder Nick Castellanos‘ two-game suspension appeal has been denied, according to Jeff Passan of ESPN. Castellanos was suspended earlier this month for his role in the bench-clearing incident against the Cardinals on April 3.

Yankees general manager Brian Cashman says that his team is going to “fight their way out” of their start and will hav a “more reflective record that gets us back on line and gets people’s confidence back to where it should be” by the end of the month. The Bronx Bombers are sitting at a 5-10 record, their worst start since 1997.

Former longtime Dodgers announcer Vin Scully received his 2020 World Series championship ring on Monday. Scully was the voice of the Dodgers for 67 years.

2006: Julio Franco becomes the oldest major league player to hit a home run in a 7-2 Mets victory over the Padres at Petco Park. The three-time All-Star accomplished the feat at 47 years and 240 days old.
