The Mets finished up a .500 road trip out west with a 4-1 win over the Angels Sunday night. J.D. Davis and Pete Alonso both hit homers, Jeff McNeil collected three hits, and Taijuan Walker struck out a season-high 10 batters in six innings. Edwin Díaz notched a five-out save, striking out five of the six batters he faced and touching 102 miles per hour. The Amazin’s now return home for a day off before starting a seven-game homestand against the Brewers and Marlins.

Buck Showalter spoke highly of Luis Guillorme in a press conference, saying that the infielder should make the All-Star Game. Showalter praised Guillorme’s versatility in particular.

Francisco Álvarez continued his torrid stretch, hitting another homer for Binghamton against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats. Álvarez now has a 12-game hitting streak and has homered nine times since May 26.

White Sox flamethrower Michael Kopech left Sunday’s start after throwing just 13 pitches due to discomfort in his right knee. Kopech said after the game that he felt a bit of a pop in his knee, but there’s no structural damage. In other White Sox news, righty Lance Lynn will make his season debut today. The club also announced they have designated Yermín Mercedes for assignment.

The Red Sox placed right-hander Nathan Eovaldi on the 15-day IL with lower-back inflammation. Eovaldi has once again been Boston’s best pitcher, throwing 68.1 innings with a 3.16 ERA and a 7.20 K/BB ratio.

The Twins selected the contract of righty reliever Tyler Thornburg. The former Brewer started out the year with the Braves but was designated for assignment early in the season.

2012: R.A. Dickey tosses a one-hitter, allowing just one unearned run as the Mets defeat the Rays at Tropicana Field, 9-1. The lone base hit comes in the first inning when David Wright fails to make a barehand play on B.J. Upton‘s chopper. The win also makes Dickey the first pitcher to 10 wins on the year.
