Good Morning Mets Fans. The New York Metropolitans (8-10) will look to salvage the final game of the series against the Washington Nationals (12-5) today as they send Zack Wheeler to the mound to take on Max Scherzer.

Tonight’s game is scheduled to begin at 8:00 PM ET for Sunday Night Baseball on ESPN and can be heard on 710 WOR.

It was an odd game for Jacob deGrom on Saturday in the team’s 3-1 loss. The Mets’ hurler kept them in the game as he pitched 5.2 innings while allowing three runs on eight hits. He struck out 10 Nationals in the game but also walked six while taking the loss. It was an uneven game for Jake who though did state he did not feel any lingering effects from the stiff neck that kept him our of Friday’s game. Read more from Steven Marcus in Newsday.

Mike Vaccaro of the NY Post believes that the inept Mets are back and it could not have come at a worse time. As the team is in the midst of their first battle of the season with the division rival Nationals, the offense is sputtering and injuries are piling up. Vaccaro examines all the issues that are currently residing with the boys in Queens.

Mets manager, Terry Collins attempted to get Yoenis Cespedes to bat in the seventh inning of Saturday’s 3-1 loss but the outfielder stated he was unable to go.
