Noah Syndergaard was named National League Player of the Week. The award comes after Syndergaard went a total of 14 1/3 innings against the Chicago White Sox and Pittsburgh Pirates and struck out 14 batters, while only allowing one earned run.

The Chicago Cubs got some back-to-back bad news as both Craig Kimbrel and Willson Contreras will miss some time according to Jesse Rogers of ESPNChicago.com. Kimbrel was placed on the injured list with a knee injury and Contreras is estimated to spend four weeks on the IL with a hamstring injury.
In addition, the Cubs signed Alex Wilson, released Brad Brach and recalled Duane Underwood Jr.
Kevin Gausman was claimed off waivers by the Cincinnati Reds, per Jeff Passan of ESPN.
The San Francisco Giants agreed to a minor league deal with Carlos Torres, per Steve Adams of MLB Trade Rumors.
Pedro Martinez shared his thoughts on the baseballs being used at the MLB level and suggested that they are smaller and tighter than the ones he used in his playing days.

In addition to the Mets’ doubleheader sweep of the Marlins, the Braves lost 5-3 to the Minnesota Twins, the Phillies beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 7-3 and the Nationals beat the San Francisco Giants 4-0.
The Braves agreed to a minor league deal with Lucas Duda as reported by Jon Heyman of MLB Network. Duda will start things out in Triple-A Gwinnett.
Heyman also reported that the Nationals agreed to a deal with Asdrubal Cabrera, who was recently released by the Texas Rangers.
The Marlins No. 5 prospect Isan Diaz took Jacob deGrom deep for his first MLB hit on Monday. He hit the homer as his dad was being interviewed by the Marlins’ broadcast team and his reaction went viral.
