Good Morning, Mets fans!

The quarterfinals of MLB’s Players League started on Friday night with Jeff McNeil and the Mets facing off against Dwight Smith Jr. and the Baltimore Orioles. McNeil’s Mets are moving on to the semifinals!

Game one: J.D. Davis hits a walk-off pinch-hit two-run home run to win the game in extras! A 3-2 win for the virtual Mets at Citi Field gave McNeil a 1-0 series lead.

Game two: A go-ahead solo home run by virtual Jeff McNeil gives the Mets a 3-1 lead on the Orioles in the top of the third. The Mets hold on to the two-run lead and the Mets win it!

Tonight the semifinals begin with Jeff McNeil and the Mets facing off against Blake Snell and the Tampa Bay Rays at 8 p.m. ET on FS1.

Blake Snell played Gavin Lux and the Los Angeles Dodgers and won the first two games of the three game series to secure his trip to the semifinals. He won both his games by one run so he will be a tough opponent for McNeil’s Mets.

According to ESPN Chicago‘s Jesse Rogers, Major League Baseball has come to an agreement with the major league umpires for the upcoming 2020 season, whenever it starts up.

ESPN analyzed the cost of the loss of sports. With $12 billion in revenue and hundreds of thousands of jobs lost, there is an extreme loss of revenue across all sporting events.

According to Florida’s governor, Governor DeSantis, part of Florida’s re-open task force, the recommendations they have made include starting phase one on May 4th. The first phase will include opening casinos and opening sporting venues. FOX TV personality Andy Slater, has more information about the preceding phases and more on the re-opening plans.

Kevin Kernan has parted ways with the New York Post after 23 incredible years. Kernan was one of America’s most beloved New York sports writers; we at MMO wish him well on any and all future endeavors. Todd Frazier tweeted a sweet goodbye to him as well.

Unfortunately, Bill Gladstone the owner of the Trip-City ValleyCats, a minor league affiliate of Houston Astros, passed away on Thursday from the coronavirus. Tim Ruminski of theScore wrote an article on his passing and the statements made by the President of the team.
