Good morning, Mets fans!
After missing his last start with discomfort in his radial nerve, Steven Matz (3-2, 3.86 ERA) will come off the injured list (IL) today to make his first start in two weeks. He’ll face off Pablo Lopez (2-5, 5.93 ERA) and the Marlins. The game can be viewed on SNY and WBCS 880 at 4:10 p.m.
Last night, Jacob deGrom struggled against the last place Marlins. The Mets attempted a comeback late, but Pete Alonso‘s two home runs weren’t enough to close the seven-run deficit.
Twelve years after his final Mets appearance, Carlos Gomez is back in the orange and blue. In his first game back, he went 0-for-3 with one strikeout. The Mets selected the 33-year-old’s contract after they placed Michael Conforto on the 7-day concussion IL and designated outfielder Keon Broxton for assignment. The team also recalled Paul Sewald from Triple-A Syracuse.
Broxton, who the Mets acquired in exchange for three minor-league prospects this offseason, has limped to .143/.208/.163 line in 49 at-bats this season.
