Twelve years before the Negro League began and long before Jackie Robinson‘s debut as a Major League Baseball player, the Louisville Union left a historic mark on the history of baseball. In lieu of this and the recently discovered photographs of these former players, the Louisville Slugger Museum exhibit is now open and will showcase some of those accomplishments and the photos found by Bailey Mazik.

According to Brain McTaggart of MLB.com, Brad Ausmus is in the running for the vacant Houston Astros manager position. Ausmus played for the Astros for 10 years and has prior experience managing the Tigers and the Angels.

Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports that Steven Souza is close to a deal with the Chicago Cubs.

Nick Margevicius was claimed off waivers by the Seattle Mariners. In a corresponding move, Seattle designated Reggie McClain for assignment, according to Mark Feinsand of MLB.

Kyle Glaser of Baseball America reported that Double-A teams will now use minor league baseballs during their season. Additionally, Triple-A teams will continue to use the major league baseball.

Feinsand also reported that catcher Welington Castillo is finalizing a minor league deal with the Washington Nationals which includes an invite to major league spring training.
