Per Joel Sherman of the New York Post, there is a “strong likelihood” that former Mets manager Luis Rojas will take the job as the Yankees’ third base coach. Yankees manager Aaron Boone and Rojas had a mutual liking for each other in the interview process, according to Sherman’s sources.

Rojas led the Mets to a combined record of 103-119 in his two seasons as manager with the team.

The Twins have hired former Padres manager Jayce Tingler as their bench coach, per Dan Hayes of The Athletic. Tingler was let go by San Diego after the team missed the playoffs.

According to Jon Morosi of MLB Network, the Mariners are showing “sincere interest” in Marcus Semien. Semien hit for a .265 batting average and reached his first career All-Star game with the Blue Jays in 2021.

Lefty T.J. McFarland has signed a one-year contract with the Cardinals for the 2022 season. McFarland spent this past season in St. Louis where he compiled a 4-1 record on the mound with a 2.56 ERA.

Right-handed pitcher John Gant has elected free agency after clearing outright waivers, according to Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press. Gant spent 14 games with Minnesota after beginning the 2021 season with St. Louis.

The MLB Draft League will have a split-season hybrid format in 2022, according to Teddy Cahill of Baseball America. The first half of the season will be an amateur summer league while the second half will be a pro, independent ball league.
