Good morning, Mets fans!

Justin Verlander threw 43 pitches in a simulated game on Sunday, which went well according to manager Buck Showalter. The 40-year-old is slated to make a rehab start on Friday, which would line him up to make his season debut on May 3 against the Tigers in Detroit. Showalter said Verlander won’t require a second rehab start, though he may be on a low pitch limit in his first start for the Mets.
