Jazz Chisholm was named the cover athlete for MLB The Show 23, which will be released on PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch on March 28. Chisholm becomes the first Marlin to grace the cover of the game. A collector’s edition of the game will be revealed on February 2 and pre-orders for the game will open on February 6.

The Mets’ equipment truck departed Citi Field Monday and is headed to Port St. Lucie. Pitchers and catchers who will play in the World Baseball Classic are set to report to camp on February 13, and position players will follow three days later.

Five Mets were ranked in Keith Law’s Top 100 Prospects list. Francisco Álvarez led the way at No. 7, followed by Brett Baty at 31, Kevin Parada at 44, Alex Ramirez at 68, and Ronny Mauricio at 87.

Mr. Met appeared as a special guest at the 100th birthday party for a fan on Sunday. The party’s DJ played Narco as the mascot entered the room.

The Yankees have hired former MLB outfielder Brad Wilkerson to be the team’s assistant hitting coach. The runner-up for the 2002 NL Rookie of the Year has spent the last two seasons as a baseball assistant at Jacksonville University.

The Guardians announced that beloved drummer John Adams has passed away at the age of 71. Adams had been banging his drum at Cleveland’s games for almost 50 years, dating back to when the team played at Cleveland Municipal Stadium.

Darren O’Day announced on his Twitter account that he is retiring from baseball after a 15-year career in MLB. The sidearming righty went undrafted out of the University of Florida in 2006, eventually signing with the Angels. His career included a four-game stint with the Mets in 2009 after they selected him in the Rule 5 Draft, but they let him go on waivers to the Rangers, where he helped the team reach the World Series a year later. O’Day made the All-Star Game for the Orioles in 2015 and was a key contributor during their run of success under Buck Showalter. O’Day finishes his career with a 2.59 ERA/3.48 FIP and a 1.034 WHIP with 637 strikeouts and 21 saves in 609 innings.

The Royals are re-signing veteran righty Zack Greinke to a one-year contract, Bob Fescoe of 610 Sports Radio reports. The 39-year-old made 26 starts for Kansas City in 2022, turning in a 3.68 ERA/4.03 FIP (111 ERA+) and a 1.343 WHIP in 137 innings.

The Red Sox have traded former All-Star Matt Barnes to the Marlins in exchange for lefty reliever Richard Bleier, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports. Barnes was designated for assignment last week after a disappointing 2022 season. Bleier made headlines when he got called for three balks in one inning against the Mets this past September but overall posted a solid 3.55 ERA/3.27 FIP in 50 2/3 innings on the year.

The Brewers have signed outfielder Monte Harrison to a minor-league contract for the 2023 season. Harrison was a second-round pick by the Brewers back in 2014 before he was sent to the Marlins in the Christian Yelich trade in 2018. Once a top-50 prospect in baseball, Harrison has struggled in his brief time in the majors, striking out 37 times in 76 plate appearances.
