Good morning, Mets fans!
Jacob deGrom will have an MRI today to check in on his inflamed elbow that’s caused him to miss the last four weeks. (This comes after forearm inflammation caused him to miss a couple weeks.)
Should everything come out clean, the earliest deGrom would be able to return is July 13 after the Mets transferred him to the 60-day injured list during various roster moves.
Now let’s get into the morning briefing.
Latest Mets News

Francisco Lindor returned from the injured list Tuesday after missing 37 games. He went 0-for-4 with a long flyout to left and two force outs.
Zack Scott offered a few injury updates for some crucial Mets (outside of deGrom):
- Noah Syndergaard may start a rehab assignment as early as next week
- Tomas Nido got a cortisone injection in his thumb, so he won’t come off the injured list Wednesday when eligible.
In other injury news, Jordan Yamamoto made his second rehab start while recovering from a shoulder injury. He threw two scoreless innings for St. Lucie.

He had recently come off the IL after a long stint because of an oblique injury.
The Reds designated Sean Doolittle for assignment to make room for Tejay Antone, according to Bobby Nightengale Jr. He could be an interesting grab for the Mets, should they want better lefty bullpen depth. Doolittle has a 4.46 ERA in 38.1 innings this season.

Gregory Polanco cleared waivers and will return to the Pirates, according to Mike Persak. The team DFA’d him last week. No team claimed him likely in part due to the remainder of his $11.6 million salary being owed and partly due to his extremely poor performance this season. He has a $3 million buyout for 2022, and you can bet the farm the Pirates will execute that.
