Given the cold weather and how early it is in camp, the training staff is holding him back a day or two. It’s a tough start to camp for the Rangers’ new ace, whose career has been slowed by injuries as of late.

Tim Healey of Newsday reports that the Mets are bringing outfielder Khalil Lee to major league spring training. Lee is being investigated by MLB for allegedly assaulting a former girlfriend. The Mets designated him for assignment recently, but he cleared waivers and remains with the organization.

Jennifer Williams of FOX asked Yankees legendary closer Mariano Rivera his reaction to people comparing Mets closer Edwin Diaz’s entrance song “Narco” to his  “Enter Sandman.” Rivera responded by saying: “There’s no comparison. The song was there for 17 years and many championships. So it’s no comparison.”

Chelsea Janes of the Washington Post reports that Diamond Sports Group, the operators of Ballys Sports and owners of full broadcast rights to 14 MLB teams, will enter a 30-day grace period to determine its future as it misses an interest payment due today. This indicates that the company is close to declaring bankruptcy.
Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports that Frankie Montas is continuing to undergo testing on his right shoulder injury. Surgery is a possibility, according to pitching coach Matt Blake, who said that Montas is going through the process with doctors. If Montas needs surgery, it would not necessarily be season-ending, per pitching coach Matt Blake.
Evan Woodberry of MLive Media Group reports that Tigers right-handed pitcher Casey Mize had a previously undisclosed back surgery last year, which has slightly delayed his throwing program.
Jeff Fletcher of the Southern California News Group reports that Mike Trout says he will work to convince Shohei Ohtani to remain with Angels. Ohtani becomes a free agent after this season.
