McNeil signed a four-year, $50 million extension to remain in orange and blue and was all smiles during his press conference.

2008: One day after signing the largest contract a Mets pitcher received in team history, the Mets officially announced the acquisition of Johan Santana from the Minnesota Twins. In exchange for Carlos Gomez, Deolis Guerra, Phillip Humber and Kevin Mulvey, the Mets acquired Santana and signed him to a six-year, $137.5 million contract.
