Giants president of baseball operations Farhan Zaidi revealed to reporters recently that he had immediate concerns about Carlos Correa’s physical. Zaidi said that the Giants and Correa’s camp had differing opinions on the medical review, but it wasn’t an “11th-hour thing.” Correa’s introductory press conference in San Francisco was called off just a few hours before it was supposed to begin. Zaidi also mentioned that while he’s had conversations with Boras since Correa’s deal with the Mets hasn’t become official, it’s clear that re-negotiations are unlikely if the Mets’ deal collapses.

Reliever Hirokazu Sawamura is looking for opportunities to pitch in the majors again, rather than returning to his native Japan. In two seasons with the Red Sox, Sawamura has pitched to a solid 3.39 ERA in 103 2/3 innings, though his 4.59 FIP and 13-percent walk rate paint a much bleaker picture of his a ręsumé.

Royals general manager J.J. Picollo told reporters that his team is still exploring adding to their starting rotation. Thus far, Kansas City has picked up veterans Ryan Yarbrough and Jordan Lyles to aid their relatively young starting rotation.
