Francisco Álvarez has moved up on MLB’s list of top prospects. The Mets’ No. 1 prospect now sits a top as MLB’s No. 1 prospect in baseball.

The Mets took round one of the Subway Series on Tuesday, taking down the Yankees 6-3. Taijuan Walker wasn’t at his best but turned in a gutsy performance, and Edwin Diaz recorded a four-out save with all four outs coming on strikeouts.

Game two of the dual-game set kicks off tonight at 7:10 p.m. ET with Max Scherzer on the mound for his birthday.

According to Joel Sherman of the New York Post, Mets first base coach Wayne Kirby has returned to the team following prostate surgery and will resume his duties as first base coach on Wednesday.

Per Jim Callis of MLB Pipeline and MLB.com, the Mets officially signed their second round draft pick, right-handed pitcher Blade Tidwell (No. 52 overall) for $1.85 million (slot value of $1,457,100). Tidwell has a fastball between 93-96mph that touches 99, a low-80’s slider to 88mph with sweep and depth, as well as a sinking changeup.

Also according to Jim Callis of MLB Pipeline and MLB.com, the Mets have also signed their supplemental second round pick Nick Morabito for $1 million. (slot 75 value was $873,700). He was a Virginia Tech commit.

Per Tim Britton of The Athletic, Mets catcher James McCann may begin a rehab assignment on Thursday. Trevor May is expected to throw on Wednesday and go back-to-back Saturday and Sunday. Should those sessions go as planned, May could rejoin the Mets after that.

According to Michael Mayer of Metsmerized, Jim Bowden reported that Billy Eppler has made contact with the Los Angeles Angels to inquire about the availability of Shohei Ohtani.
