Good morning, Mets fans!
Late Monday night, Fernando Tatis Jr. took a rip at a curveball and immediately crumbled in pain. A report from Jon Heyman says the superstar suffered a “subluxation of the left shoulder,” which Heyman clarified is a partial dislocation of the shoulder. He seemed to avoid major damage, though, as Padres general manager AJ Preller said the hope is he only misses about two weeks. The team placed him on the 10-day IL Tuesday.
The injury is similar to the one Michael Conforto suffered in 2017, though Tatis only has a partial tear and Conforto’s was more severe. He eventually had surgery on the shoulder and returned to form in the second half of 2018.
Tatis Jr. signed a 14-year, $340 million extension this offseason to stay with the San Diego Padres for a long time.
Now let’s get into the rest of the morning briefing.

Next, the Yankees acquired infielder Rougned Odor — the man whose right hand is known more for throwing punches than put outs — from the Texas Rangers for prospects Antonio Cabello and Josh Stowers.
Odor had $27 million and three years (one being a buyout) left on his deal with the Rangers, who are covering his entire salary, according to ESPN‘s Jeff Passan. The Bombers designated Thairo Estrada for assignment to make room on their 40-man roster.

The players heading to the injured list are: Alex Avila, Josh Bell, Patrick Corbin, Yan Gomes, Brad Hand, Josh Harrison, Jon Lester, Jordy Mercer and Kyle Schwarber. (Shoutout to Jayson Stark‘s tweet for the list.) All the players on the list either tested positive or were in close contact with someone who did. The team won’t reveal who tested positive unless the player wants to do so.
The Boston Red Sox teamed with Nike for new yellow-and-blue uniforms paying homage to Patriot Day, the Boston Marathon and city’s pride following the bombing of the race eight years ago. (The best part of the uniform, in my opinion, is 617 marathon patch on the sleeve. Those would make dope shirts.)
