Good morning, Mets fans!

Eduardo Escobar hit for the cycle and drove in six runs as the Mets ran away with their series opener with the Padres, 11-5. Escobar is the first Met to accomplish the feat since Scott Hairston did so back on April 27, 2012, against the Rockies. This cycle is also the first one to occur at Petco Park.

Every player in the Mets’ lineup recorded a hit, and Carlos Carrasco went seven innings and allowed just two runs and five hits, striking out 10 and not issuing a walk. Taijuan Walker (3-1, 2.88 ERA) will take the hill for the Mets against Yu Darvish (4-3 4:03 ERA) in the second game of the series tonight. First pitch is scheduled for 9:40 eastern time.
