José Quintana allowed just two runs in six innings, but the Mets’ offense couldn’t get anything going as they suffered their sixth straight loss, 2-0 to the Orioles. Quintana allowed six hits with two walks and six strikeouts. He pitched into the seventh inning but was pulled after putting two men on base to start the frame. The Mets are now 11 games under .500 for the first time since 2019.

The Mets now welcome the red-hot Cubs to Citi Field for a three-game series beginning tonight. Kodai Senga (7-6, 3.25 ERA) will take the mound against southpaw Drew Smyly (8-7, 4.71 ERA). The last time the Cubs came to Citi Field, they swept the Mets in a three-game set in September. Chicago has won 15 of their last 19 games to pull even with the Reds for the final NL Wild Card spot. The Mets have not won the season series against the Cubs since 2016. First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m.
