The Mets will try to avoid a sweep against the Houston Astros as they send Chris Flexen to the mound to face Mike Fiers in the series finale this afternoon. The game starts at 2:10 p.m. and will be aired on SNY.
Yesterday, the Mets played a double header and lost both games. Matt Harvey made a return in the first one and allowed seven runs in his two innings of work. The Mets tried to mount a comeback that included a Wilmer Flores grand slam and Dominic Smith two-run homer, but fell short and lost by a final of 12-8.
In the second game, the Mets sent Seth Lugo to the mound and actually had a 1-0 lead until the sixth inning. Lugo managed to allow four runs which was all the Astros needed to win the game 4-1 and sweep the double dip.
