Mike Puma of the Post says his title will be General Manager. Not President of Baseball Operations or anything like that.
Puma also reported that Ben Cherington never became a serious candidate because he wanted to rebuild the Mets.
The hiring will be announced this week if all goes to plan. Expect it to be in the Tuesday-Thursday frame.

The NBA has a better precedent of hiring agents to be GMs. The Warriors hired Bob Meyers and have been a dominant force. The Lakers hired Rob Pelinka and appear to rebounding, although that is mostly due to LeBron James.
