Today, Jacob deGrom‘s (0-0, 0.00 ERA) poised for his encore after a sterling 2020 debut. On Opening Day, deGrom hurled five scoreless frames on a pitch count of 85. Now stretched out to 100 pitches, deKing should be in midseason form against Boston. He’ll be opposed to Nathan Eovaldi (1-0, 1.50 ERA).

Yesterday, David Peterson made his first MLB start. Over five and a two-thirds innings, the Mets’ 2017 first-round pick only allowed seven hits and two runs. Per Alex Speier, Peterson became the first lefty to debut in Fenway and throw five frames since 2002.

Amed Rosario, J.D. Davis, and Jeff McNeil all contributed multiple RBIs.

The Mets inked backstop Bruce Maxwell to a minor-league pact.

They also brought Yefry Ramirez and Pedro Payano to their 60 man player pool.

Luis Rojas disclosed that deGrom and Steven Matz missed the road trip and stayed in New York, solely to limit their travel.
