Good morning, Mets fans! It feels great to be back in the win column!

Today, Noah Syndergaard (2-1, 3.09 ERA) will look to build on the momentum from yesterday’s game. Syndergaard has gotten off to a middling start this season. He’ll be opposed by Zach Eflin (1-0, 0.71 ERA), who has enjoyed a resurgence since being called up from the minor leagues. The game will be on WPIX and 710 WOR at 7:05 p.m.

Steven Matz had an encouraging start, but the Mets offense couldn’t support the southpaw’s strong game early on. Matz lasted five innings, pitching his way in-and-out of jams the entire night. In the ninth inning, the Mets offense perked up. Michael Conforto took the lead with an absolute bomb and on the very next pitch, Devin Mesoraco took Hector Neris deep to seal the victory for New York.

Latest Mets News

The Mets promoted Dominic Smith and Buddy Baumann prior to last night’s game. Smith posted solid numbers in Vegas this year, hitting .278/.390/.417. Even though his weight concerns have previously been an issue, he’s lost 35 pounds and looked amazing in yesterday’s game. He’ll replace Jay Bruce on the active roster while he is tending to his new son.

Baumann was recently signed to a minor league deal and has started his Mets minor league career allowing one run in 4.2 innings. He was unavailable yesterday due to a one-game suspension that was consequence of the Padres-Rockies bench clearing brawl in April.

We finally heard some injury news on a duo of Mets. Tim Britton of The Athletic reports that Anthony Swarzak is still a while from returning to the Mets, but he has started to throw in Port St.Lucie. Britton also noted that T.J. Rivera will, at the earliest, be ready in July.
