The moves kept coming in on Wednesday. While the market certainly isn’t empty yet, big names like Freddie Freeman, Kris Bryant and Anthony Rizzo signed deals, and Matt Chapman was traded to the Blue Jays.

On Wednesday, Robinson Cano offered a public apology for his 2021 PED suspension following a private apology to his teammates. Speaking to reporters, Cano said, “I’m here to apologize, first of all to the Mets organization, to my teammates, the fans and you guys (the press). There’s no excuses for how and why. All I know is I prepared myself the past season to help this team to compete for a championship.”
Cano continued by admitting that “the toughest part was not being here last year, honestly. Not being part of this team, knowing that I can’t help them in any way to make it to the playoffs and for me, cheering from a TV or from home that was for me the toughest part.”

Tim Britton of The Athletic reports that right-hander Jake Reed‘s MRI for his sore left oblique came back clean. At this point, the Mets are just waiting for the soreness to subside before having him throw.
The Mets honored Anthony Causi who died in April 2020 from the coronavirus. Causi was a beloved sports photographer for the New York Post.

Chris Cotillo of Mass Live reports that Chris Sale has a stress fracture in his right rib cage. Furthermore, Cotillo reported that Sale is unvaccinated, potentially preventing him from playing in Toronto.
Nathan Ruiz of The Baltimore Sun reports that Adley Rutschman has a tricep strain and could miss two to three weeks. It is unclear whether Rutschman will be available for the Orioles by opening day.
The Atlanta Braves have re-signed Eddie Rosario to a two-year, 18 million dollar deal.

Robert Murray of Fansided reports that the Arizona Diamondbacks signed Keone Kela to a minor-league deal. He will be ready sometime in the middle of the season after fully recovering from tommy john surgery.
Jared Diamond of the Wall Street Journal reports that the MLB and the MLBPA have agreed on COVID-19 protocols for the 2022 season. The protocols state that asymptomatic players will not be required to test regardless of vaccination status and that vaccinated players who test positive can test out of isolation faster than unvaccinated players.
Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports that LHP Steven Brault is signing with the Chicago Cubs. The Cubs also signed LHP Daniel Norris to a minor league deal.
Joc Pederson agrees to a one year, six million dollar deal with the San Francisco Giants.
Former Mets outfielder Billy McKinney signed with the Oakland Athletics on a minor league deal with an invitation to major league spring training.
Fernando Tatis Jr. had wrist surgery yesterday. The timetable for his return is still three months.
The Cincinnati Reds got LHP Mike Minor and cash from the Kansas City Royals in exchange for LHP Amir Garrett.
