1968: The Mets refused to play their scheduled game with the San Francisco Giants out of respect for Robert F. Kennedy whose funeral was being held after being assasinated two days prior.

2011: The Mets drafted 18-year-old Brandon Nimmo with the 13th pick in the 2011 MLB Draft which made him the first Wyoming native to be drafted in the first round.
