Good morning, Mets fans!
Despite a strong outing from Clay Holmes on Saturday, the Mets dropped Game 2 to the Diamondbacks, 2-1. Holmes gave up just those two earned runs on five hits and struck out six through 5 2/3 innings.
The Mets and Diamondbacks close out their series with the rubber match on Sunday at 4:10 p.m. ET. It will be Eduardo Rodriguez pitching for Arizona. Huascar Brazobán will open for the Mets, with David Peterson to follow. It will be Brazobán’s second start of the season and fifth of his career.

The Atlanta Braves on Saturday announced the passing of their former manager, the legendary Bobby Cox. Cox is known for being one of the greatest MLB managers to ever do it. He led the Braves to 14 straight divisional titles, five National League Championship titles and was the manager of the 1995 World Series champion Braves.
Per Jeff Passan of ESPN, the Cleveland Guardians are acquiring two-time Gold Glove-winning catcher Patrick Bailey from the San Francisco Giants. In the trade, the Guardians are sending left-handed pitcher Matt Wilkinson to the Giants, along with giving them their No. 29 pick in this year’s (2026) MLB Draft.
The San Francisco Giants also announced a number of roster transactions on Saturday, including that right-handed pitcher Logan Webb was placed on the 15-day injured list with right knee bursitis retroactive to May 6.
The Los Angeles Dodgers activated left-handed pitcher Blake Snell from the injured list and placed right-handed pitcher Brock Stewart on the injured list with a bone spur in his left foot.
The Tampa Bay Rays selected right-handed pitcher Aaron Brooks from Triple-A Durham and optioned right-handed pitcher Mason Englert to Durham. Brooks will wear No. 56. To make room on their 40-man roster, outfielder Justyn-Henry Malloy was designated for assignment.
