The Braves took Game 1 of the NLCS, with Austin Riley hitting a walk-off in the ninth to beat the Dodgers 3-2. Meanwhile, in the ALCS, the Red Sox tied the series at a game apiece with a 9-5 victory.

Max Scherzer will get the bump for the Dodgers tonight in Game 2 of the NLCS, facing the Braves’ Ian Anderson. First pitch is slated for 7:38 p.m. ET on TBS.

According to Any Martino of SNY, the Mets could ‘pivot’ to a search for a General Manager with Stearns and Beane appearing unlikely.

Michael Mayer of Metsmerized elaborated on Martino’s report later Saturday, confirming that sources have indicated that neither Beane or Stearns appear to be heading to the Mets. He stated that it is believed the Mets are favoring Brandon Gomes, but that it is likely the Dodgers will promote him and keep him in the organization.

Mets prospect Brett Baty hit a 110 mph two-run triple on Saturday and also walked, making him 7-for-13 with three walks in the AFL so far this offseason.

1999: “The Grand Slam Single” – Robin Ventura hit a walk-off grand slam in the bottom of the 15th inning of game five of the ALCS to force a Game Six. However, he failed to touch all four bases as he was mobbed by teammates while rounding the bases and would only be credited with a single. The umpires awarded the Mets a 4-3 victory.
