Good Morning Mets Fans!
Coming off another series sweep, the Mets will take an extra day to celebrate their eight day winning streak before starting a series against the Brewers at home on Friday.
With Zack Wheeler‘s start Wednesday night, the Mets finally had a rotation turn consisting of the group of starters dubbed the “Fab Five.” Wheeler dazzled in his return to the Majors, showcasing a revamped delivery and becoming the first Met starter to pitch into the seventh inning. His only mistake was a 2-0 pitch that Miguel Rojas deposited into the left-field bleachers in the first inning. After a single by Chad Wallach in the second frame, Wheeler retired the next 16 Marlin batters.
However, Jarlin “The Marlin” Garcia bested Wheeler, no-hitting the Mets through six innings before being removed by Don Mattingly. For six innings, Garcia made the Mets offense look like the 2015 pre-Cespedes one. However, once he was taken out, it was reminiscent of the Mets offense post-Cespedes trade. Todd Frazier delivered the Mets first hit in the seventh inning and the floodgates opened from there.
