Good morning, Mets fans!

The A’s are close to trading catcher Sean Murphy, according to Mark Feinsand of MLB.com. Feinsand initially reported that the Braves were seen as the favorites to acquire Murphy, but Atlanta GM Alex Anthopolous said there is no trade in the works. The Red Sox, Cardinals, Rays and Guardians are among the teams that have been connected to Murphy recently. Murphy won a Gold Glove in 2021 and was one of the few bright spots for Oakland in 2022, hitting .250/.332/.426 (120 OPS+) with 18 homers, 37 doubles, and 5.1 fWAR in 612 plate appearances, receiving an MVP vote as well. Murphy also ranks in the 86th percentile in pitch framing.
