Good morning, Mets fans!

The Angels announced on Twitter that 2021 AL MVP Shohei Ohtani will get the ball on April 7, Opening Day.

Ohtani, 27, over 23 starts in 2021 had a 3.18 ERA and a 1.090 WHIP. Ohtani emerged as one of the most exciting players in baseball in 2021, and the hype for him in 2022 has continued to rise exponentially. It is no surprise that the Angels have given him the keys to the Opening Day kingdom, considering that him pitching is a major event in itself.

The Mets lost 2-1 to the Astros Friday despite a solid performance from Tylor Megill. Now 3-3 on the spring, they’ll take on the 1-6 Nationals today at 1:10 p.m. David Peterson will be on the mound for the Mets.
