Here’s a roundup of all the news and notes from Port St. Lucie today.

Matt Harvey faced live batters on Monday for the second time this spring as he prepares for his first Grapefruit League start on Friday against the Detroit Tigers.

He faced David Wright and Curtis Granderson and threw 26 pitches in all. Four swings and misses, four foul balls, four balls in play, two pitchouts. “I felt good with everything. It’s exciting to be back,” said Harvey.

Afterward, David Price texted Harvey and congratulated him on his return from Tommy John surgery. The two will hook up and oppose each other on Friday.

Harvey was popping the leather and Mets batters were impressed. Only Granderson really got a hold of one hitting a hard flyball to center.

While David Wright would prefer it if everyone would chill out with the playoffs talk, he took offense to some who were calling the Mets cocky. He tells columnist John Harper of the Daily News:

“It’s the dumbest thing ever. Somebody asks you if you expect to win this year. What are you supposed to say? It’s not cockiness. There’s a difference between confident and cocky. I haven’t seen anybody being cocky.”

“People are saying, ‘You guys are talking a big game.’ We’re not talking a big game. But if you’re asking a group of competitive people who are confident in the guys in here if we’re going to be a good team — the answer is yes.”

And finally, Tuesday’s Intrasquad game will be streamed on Mets.com, so have a look as Team Orange takes on Team Blue, but don’t let your boss catch you. 😉
