Mets fans, an all-new episode is here!

This week Mike and I discuss the Mets series win against the Tampa Bay Rays, Kodai Senga‘s best outing as a big leaguer, Mark Vientos and Francisco Alvarez continue the youth movement in Queens, Pete Alonso can’t stop hitting home runs again, we break down Buck Showalter‘s questionable lineup decisions, and much more!

What was the most impressive part of the Mets huge series win against the Rays? For Mike, the youth injection of Mark Vientos and others is needed, but the most impressive take away? Mets fans finally saw the ace potential of Kodai Senga:

“The biggest key from this entire series was Senga. It’s been mostly an up-and-down year for him so far; there have been starts where he’s had trouble with control but still limited runs, and other starts where he’s had poor control and couldn’t limit runs. Then he faces the best offense in baseball to this point and strikes out 12 hitters, setting the Japanese record in Mets franchise history, and more importantly, only gave up the one run over six innings. Senga looked great doing it, too. It wasn’t an outing where he was helped with a lot of great defensive plays or anything. His “ghost” forkball looked great, as it has all year, but he looked more aggressive with his other pitches, particularly his cutter and four-seam fastball. He was finally throwing them for more strikes, which makes his forkball even more of a weapon because hitters can’t sit on it as much when he throws his other pitches for strikes.”
