Mets fans, an all new episode of MMO Weekly is here!

This week Mike and I dive into the Amazin’s west coast gauntlet, J.D. Davis’s solid road trip and the rest of the Mets offense, Scherzer’s and deGrom’s timelines for return, will Francisco Álvarez be a big leaguer in 2022, and much more!

Could we actually see the 20 year old phenom playing for the big club in 2022? If Alvarez continues to hit like he has, Mike thinks we could see the young slugger up with the Mets in September:

“I know we want to talk about Álvarez in the big leagues, but the first step is that the Mets want to see him in Triple-A, and I think we likely see that promotion very soon. Álvarez is making a laughing stock of Double-A pitching, so there’s really not reason for him to stay in Binghamton. I know players like Michael Conforto and some others have made the jump from Double-A to the big leagues, but for Álvarez it’s less about his offense and more about wanting to get him up to Triple-A and work with more veteran pitchers and that coaching staff to get more comfortable with everything defensively. That being said, If he does get called up in September It’s more than likely not to be the new starting catcher, figure the Mets will use him aggressively in pinch hitting roles and as a DH, while catching once a week at the most.”
