Mets fans, an all-new episode is here!

This week Mike and I are joined by Mets pitching prospect and Binghamton Rumble Ponies reliever Josh Hejka! The submariner leads all Mets minor league pitchers right now with his 0.42 ERA. He has 25 strikeouts and has allowed only 15 hits in 21 1/3 innings between the Brooklyn Cyclones and Double-A Binghamton this year.

Josh had some great conversations about his unique pitching slot, pitching to Francisco Alvarez, playing with experimental rules, and much more!

When discussing his 2022 season so far, Hejka spoke about his work with Driveline Baseball this offseason which he attributes to his early season success:

“The biggest pitch for me that I wanted to improve this offseason was my rising slider, so I went out to Driveline, did some pitch designing and we actually developed a slider that has a lot of vertical break and sweeps a lot too, which has become extremely effective for me. I’ve been able to get a lot of swings and misses especially against right-handed batters, and as you see with Tyler Rogers (San Francisco Giants submarine pitcher) It’s a pitch that hitters haven’t seen much of from that slot, so that’s something that I’m trying to replicate in my arsenal which has been extremely useful for me so far this year.”
