Mets fans, an all-new episode is here!

This week Mike and I recap another disappointing series loss, this time to the Cincinnati Reds. We discuss Max Scherzer‘s health and our concern level for the future hall of famer, Mike and I dive into the struggling Mets offense and how they can potentially turn things around, Justin Verlander shines against the Reds, we discuss Francisco Alvarez finally coming into his own as a big leaguer, when could we see minor league sluggers Mark Vientos and Ronny Mauricio crack the major league club, and much more!

Who’s to blame for the Mets poor start to the 2023 season? For Mike, this team has more than one weakness to point to, but it all starts with the starting rotation:

“The rotation is obviously the focus, but there are plenty of holes on this Mets team right now: there are four or five guys getting regular at-bats that just aren’t hitting up to what they normally do or even up to major league average. The starting rotation isn’t going deep into games which has put a lot of stress on the bullpen, which was pitching well to start the year. Still, now we’re seeing some of the leaks there due to overuse, and there are only so many guys you can go deep on the depth chart on and still get effective relievers, which is now catching up to the Mets. Yet, it’s tough when the bullpen is logging just as many innings as the starters, which is not a good recipe for success. Simply put, there are not many good things in Mets land right now.”
