Mets fans, an all new episode is here!

This week Mike and I discuss Brett Baty‘s promotion to the big league club and how it should impact the offense, we recap the weekend sweep of the Oakland A’s, look at the importance of Tommy Pham and David Robertson‘s early impacts, we preview the upcoming series against the Los Angeles Dodgers, Mike updates us on the early standouts of the Mets minor leagues, and much more!

Will Baty help boost a Mets offense that has struggled so far this season? For Mike, If Baty’s Triple-A numbers say anything, it’s that he’s ready to be in the big league lineup everyday:

“I still think the Oakland series was the right time to bring Baty up, that starting staff and bullpen is much easier to face from a hitter’s standpoint than going up against Dustin May, Clayton Kershaw, and the rest of the Dodgers pitching staff that Baty will have to face. But, it’s still a great thing that he was called up and that the Mets finally realized it was time for him to be in the big leagues. I mean, Eppler went and saw him the other day in Syracuse and Baty homered in the game! He was hitting a shade under .400 with an OPS just under 1400, so there was nothing else for Baty to show at the Triple-A level at least from an offensive standpoint. And even though the Mets swept the A’s over the weekend, outside of the first game which Oakland pitching staff gave up 17 walks, the Mets scored three and four runs in the last two games against the worst pitching staff in baseball. Outside of Pete Alonso, the Mets offensive has struggled overall and Baty should be a shot in the arm for this lineup.”
