Mets fans, an all-new episode is here!

This week Mike and I discuss Max Scherzer and the rest of the Mets struggles during their 3-4 opening road trip, Kodai Senga showing promise in his first start, Francisco Alvarez getting the call to the big league club due to more injuries, Mike tells us which young Mets continue to shine in Triple-A and much more!

Should there be early cause for concern with the Mets lack of offensive production to start the season? Although frustrating, Mike thinks it’s far too early to go waiving the panic flag in Flushing just yet:

“I’m not so sure I’m that worried, obviously it’s very early, we’re only talking seven games, and they’ve faced some pretty good pitching to start the year. Ironically, probably the second-best pitcher they faced in Corbin Burnes they beat up and Pete Alonso became the first player to hit two home runs in a game against Burnes. Other than that, Freddy Peralta is a very good pitcher, Jesus Luzardo might be an early favorite for breakout pitcher in the national league, and they faced Sandy Alcantara aka the reigning NL Cy Young winner…so the Mets have just faced some really good pitching to start the year outside of Wade Miley who gave them fits. My biggest concern which goes back spring training is third base once they sent Brett Baty down in favor of Eduardo Escobar. Escobar has not started the season well at all, and Luis Guillorme hasn’t really hit when he’s been given an opportunity, although you at least get his plus defense over Escobar. But, at some point you have to get offensive production at third, which will be a weakness going forward until Baty is eventually called up to take the job.”
