Mets fans, an all-new episode is here!

This week Mike and I are joined by Mets beater Tim Healey of Newsday to discuss Brandon Nimmo‘s new spring “blueprint” to stay healthy in 2023, how players are adjusting to the new rules and are using them to their advantage like Max Scherzer, Justin Verlander preparing to add a fourth pitch this season, early impressions of Brett Baty in camp, and much more!

How has the adjustment been to the new pitch clock so far in Mets camp? According to Tim it’s been business as usual for most players, but for some like Scherzer, the clock adds another element of intimidation to his game:

“The pitchers that I’ve spoke to about the clock all seem to really like it, especially Scherzer who used it for the first time in a game on Sunday. This guy is a maniac and called “Mad Max” for a reason, in part because he likes to toy with people, and he views the pitch clock and its associated rules as another layer of mind games. No pitchers have put up a stink about the pitch clock and everyone seems to be adjusting with no issues. And as we saw in Sunday, Scherzer also plans on using the pitchcom to keep hitters off balance.”
