Mets fans, an all-new episode is here!

This week, Mike and I discuss the Mets blockbuster signing of 2022 AL Cy Young award-winner Justin Verlander, the latest from Brandon Nimmo‘s free agency, Jacob deGrom‘s departure to the Texas Rangers, and more!

If you were the Mets general manager, would you have stayed with the home-grown deGrom or sign Justin Verlander? For Mike, that answer lies with the reigning 2022 comeback player of the year:

“If I’m the general manager, I think I’m taking Verlander for a couple of reasons. I like short-term risk, Verlander at two years even at his age is a better risk than it is for deGrom. I also like the fact that Verlander was able to throw 175 innings last year, which was more than deGrom has pitched in the last three years. It’s tough to get on the Mets for not signing him [deGrom] to that five year deal or at least matching it. The way I break it down is this: which on of those deals do you think looks better at the end of it? And while I think deGrom has the bigger upside, for what the Mets are trying to do this offseason and the near future I think I would choose the Verlander deal.”
