Mets fans, an all-new episode is here!

This week Mike and I recap the weekend sweep in Atlanta and losing the division, preview this weekend’s Wildcard series against the San Diego Padres, we discuss the Mets chances of making a deep postseason run without Starling Marte, Jeff McNeil wins his first batting title, and more!

With rumors floating that the Mets are planning to start Chris Bassitt in game two in order to save Jacob deGrom for a potential game 3 or game 1 in the NLDS, is it wise for the Amazin’s to be looking ahead to the Dodgers? Mike, to put it lightly, would call that move overthinking:

“I think we fully agree that this would be a really bad idea. You can never take anything for granted in the playoffs, and let’s remember that Buck Showalter did this once before with the Yankees in 1995 in their playoff series against the Mariners, and baseball reference will tell you that the 1995 Yankees did not win a single playoff series that year. Whether it’s Buck or whoever is making that decision (to not start deGrom in Game 2) would be overthinking to the max. If you win in game 1 with Max Scherzer you have to throw deGrom to win the series…there’s no reason to try to go an a Game 3. I’m not saying that Chris Bassitt isn’t a good pitcher because that’s not true at all, but he’s not Jacob deGrom.”
