Was the drafting of catcher Kevin Parada a foreshadowing of a Francisco Alvarez trade? Mike answer was pretty short, “absolutely not.”
“The Mets went best player available, the major league draft is completely different from any other sport because you don’t draft for need. The Mets have their board with their rankings and cross off players as they’re taken, so when you see a guy ranked high on your board still there like Parada you take him, the Mets did just that, and it has nothing to do with Alvarez getting traded or anything like that.”
