The MLB All Star festivities are upon us! The Home Run Derby is tonight on ESPN and it should prove to be quite the show.

The seeds are determined by 2017 home run totals, except Stanton who is the defending champion. They are as follows:

  1. Giancarlo Stanton
  2. Aaron Judge
  3. Cody Bellinger
  4. Mike Moustakas
  5. Miguel Sano
  6. Charlie Blackmon
  7. Justin Bour
  8. Gary Sanchez

In round one, Stanton will face off against Sanchez, Judge against Bour, Bellinger against Blackmon, and Moustakas against Sano.

It is single elimination and there will be three rounds. The winner of the Stanton-Sanchez matchup will face off in round two against either Moustakas or Sano.

Conversely, the winner of the Judge-Bour matchup will face either Bellinger or Blackmon. The two winners of the semi-finals will face off in the finals, the winner of which is the champion.

Batters will have four minutes per round. Each batter is entitled to one 45-second timeout in the first two rounds, but in the finals, each batter gets two timeouts — one for 45 seconds and another for 30 seconds.

Thirty seconds of bonus time will be awarded for hitting at least two home runs that each equal or exceed 440 feet. Any bonus time will be awarded at the end of the initial four-minute round and the timer will not stop during the bonus time period.

Ties will be broken by a 60-second swing-off with no stoppage of time or additional time added. If a tie remains after the swing-off, batters will engage in successive three-swing swing-offs until there is a winner.
