LHP Jose Quintana (5-4, 2.22) vs. RHP Matt Harvey (3-7, 6.08)
SNY • WOR 710 AM • ESPN 1050 AM
The Mets try to get back on track as the White Sox come to town for a Memorial Day matinee. Yesterday the Mets were able to claw their way back in the 8th inning to tie the game at 2-2 vs Clayton Kershaw and the Dodgers, but Jeurys Familia was ineffective in the ninth and the Mets eventually lost 4-2.
The Mets have lost two straight and are 6-4 in their last 10 games. They are 13-6 in their last 19 games at Citi Field, and 14-10 at home overall this season.
The big story for today is, will Matt Harvey be Harvey? The word on the street is the Mets’ staff found a mechanical issue in his extended bullpen session and worked on it. The numbers are ugly is season at 3-7 over 10 starts with a 6.08 ERA.
The Mets have only faced the White Sox seven times in team history, the fewest number of games vs. any major league team. New York is 3-4 vs. Chicago, including 1-1 in Queens.
The Mets will wear specially-designed jerseys that incorporates camouflage in the Mets logo and numbers. They will also wear a special camo NY hat. Authenticated items from today’s game will be auctioned off at MLB.com/Auction to benefit Welcome Back Veterans.
