The Mets beat the Twins last night behind an amazing start from Bartolo Colon and back to back jacks by Reyes and Cabrera. Meanwhile, the two teams on the Mets radar for the Wild Card, the Giants and Cardinals, are playing each other. Tonight the Mets look to keep it going behind Seth Lugo.

Seth Lugo is 4-2 over 14 games and 5 starts and 48.2 innings with a 2.40 ERA. In his last four starts he has tossed 25.0 innings with a 4-0 record and a 1.80 ERA. The Mets need another, now typical, Lugo start tonight as they look to capitalize on the Giants playing the Cardinals. As a rookie in the National League East, it is not surprising that he has not faced the Twins yet in his major league career or anyone on the Twins roster in a major league game.

The Mets bats will get a look at Ervin Santana who is 7-10 over 27 games and 163.1 innings with an ERA of 3.53. He’s had a mostly solid month of September allowing 6 ER over 16.0 innings with an ERA of 3.38. He faced the Mets 4 times in 2014 as a member of the Braves where he allowed 10 ER and 21 hits over 27.0 innings (3.33 ERA). The Mets have the following numbers against Santana:

  • Granderson 13-51, 2 2B, 5 HR
  • Cabrera 9-41, 2 2B, 2 3B, HR
  • Loney 7-18, 3 2B
  • K Johnson 1-13, HR
  • De Aza 4-16, 2B, HR
  • Cespedes 4-14, 3 HR
  • d’Arnaud 2-9, HR

Let’s Go Mets!
