The Mets start their last regular season home series of the year as they welcome the Phillies and hope to forget about everything that happened over the last three games vs Atlanta. Last night the Mets had the lead earlier, let it slip in the later innings and then got robbed of a walk-off win at the end of the game. Luckily, the Cardinals and the Giants also lost, so the Mets are still in a three-way tie for the Wild Card.

The Mets have won 12 of their last 14 series vs. the Phillies and are 21-10 vs. Philadelphia since the start of the 2015 campaign. The Mets are 13-5 vs. the Phillies in their last 18 games at Citi Field.

Jay Bruce is out of the starting lineup for the fourth time in five games, while T.J. Rivera bats cleanup and Eric Campbell gets the start at first base.

Tonight, Seth Lugo looks to get the job done for the Mets. On the season he is 4-2 over 15 games and 6 starts with 53.2 innings of work and a 2.35 ERA. He is 4-0 in his last 5 starts and 30.0 innings of work with an 1.80 ERA. Seth has never faced the Phillies before or anyone on their roster, but will probably face them again before the season is over (if you didn’t know, 7 of the Mets last 10 games are against the Phillies).

The Mets bats draw Adam Morgan who is 2-10 over 21 games and 19 starts and 103.1 innings of work with a 5.57 ERA.  In his last 4 starts though he has been considerably better than his season numbers posting a 2.35 ERA over 23.0 innings. However the start right before this good streak was against the Mets where he allowed 6 ER over 5.0 innings. The Mets have the following numbers against Morgan:

  • Bruce 1-4, 2B
  • Cespedes 2-5
  • Flores 2-5, 2 HR
  • d’Arnaud 1-3, HR
  • Cabrera 1-3, HR
  • Reyes 2-3, 2B, HR
  • Lagares 1-2, HR

Let’s Go Mets!
