After consecutive losses, the Mets try to turn things around today and try to salvage a series split against the Nationals. It’s a big game for the Mets a loss will have them trailing the Nationals by six games. They turn to Steven Matz to be the stopper and go into the All-Star break on a positive note.

The Mets are 7-3 on their season-high 11- game homestand and enter today 47-40. Last year at the All Star break,the Mets were 47-42 and 2.0 games out of first place.

He was the hard luck loser in his last start allowing only 2 runs against Miami in a game the Marlins eventually won 5-2 (both runs on one bad pitch to Stanton, which was the start of Stanton’s tear against the Mets).
