RHP Ben Lively vs. RHP Matt Harvey
SNY • MLBN • WOR 710 AM • 104.3 WAXQ-FM HD 2 • ESPN 1050

The Mets dropped the last game of the series against the Cardinals on Sunday and were deprived of a chance to get back on the winning track last night thanks to snow earlier in the day.

The question tonight is about rain, the Mets should be able to get the game in with at most a delay, so hopefully the manager of the Phillies will be able to see the bullpen and call on a pitcher tonight who has actually warmed up.

It’s a big day in Mets land! Harvey Day! Will the Mets get 2017 Harvey? 2016? 2015? Last year Harvey went 5-7 over 19 games and 18 starts tossing 92.2 innings with a 6.70 ERA, 6.37 FIP, 1.694 WHIP and 63 ERA+.

In the exact same amount of innings in 2016 Harvey had a 4.86 ERA, 3.47 FIP, 1.468 WHIP and 83 ERA+. Harvey made two starts against the Phillies last year.

His first one, the second start of the season, he allowed two runs over 5.2 innings and six strikeouts and was taken out of the game early for an injury concern (the Mets were destroying the ball offensively that night). His second start against the Phillies was his last start of the season where he allowed four runs over four innings from seven hits and three walks. The Phillies have the following numbers against him:

  • Herrera 4-for-16, HR, 6 K
  • Hernandez 4-for-11, 2 BB
  • Franco 3-for-8, 2 HR
  • Santana 0-for-1, 2 BB
  • Alfaro 1-for-1, 2B
  • Hoskins 1-for-2

The Mets bats will see Ben Lively’s first start of 2018 coming off or a rookie year where he went 4-7 over 15 games and 88.2 innings with a 4.26 ERA, 4.97 FIP, 1.286 WHIP and 99 ERA+. Even though he only made 15 starts, he faced the Mets 3 times (or 20% of his starts) and held the Mets to only 5 runs from 15 hits and 7 walks over 19.1 innings which comes out to a 2.33 ERA and 1.138 WHIP. The Mets have the following numbers against Lively:

  • Reyes 2-for-9, 3B, HR, BB
  • Carbera 3-for-9, 2B
  • d’Arnaud 3-for-9, 2B
  • Nimmo 0-for-5, BB
  • Lagares 2-for-4, BB
  • Bruce 0-for-2
  • Cespedes 0-for-3
  • Flores 0-for-3
  • Rosario 0-for-2

Notes

Michael Conforto says he still doesn’t know if the Mets will let him come off the DL Thursday when eligible, but he feels 100 percent and ready to go. “I’m hoping,” Conforto said.

The Mets have won 18 of their last 22 series vs. the Phillies. New York is 38-19 vs. Philadelphia since the start of the 2015 campaign. New York has out-homered the Phillies, 102-46 since the start of the 2015 season.

Yoenis Céspedes has 14 homers, 34 RBI and has scored 32 runs in 36 career games vs. Philadelphia. He has homered in each of his last two games vs. the Phillies. Last year, he batted .304 (14-for-46) with five home runs and 12 RBI in 12 games vs. Philadelphia.

Since joining the Mets, Asdrubal Cabrera has batted .388 (54-for-139) with 10 home runs and 29 RBI in 36 games vs. Philadelphia.

José Reyes has 21 career homers vs. the Phillies, his most vs. any club and his 73 career RBI vs. Philadelphia are also the most.

Seth Lugo, whose rotation spot the Mets skipped due to Monday’s snowout, will be available out of the bullpen this week. Mickey Callaway says he’d like to get Lugo into a game as soon as possible.

Let’s Go Mets!
